  On May 23, Xie Wei, deputy secretary of the CPC Working Committee of Nansha Development Zone, Guangzhou and his delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Biogeology and Environmental geology for inspection and exchange.

  During the inspection, Professor Chen Zhongqiang, deputy director of the laboratory, introduced the basic situation of the laboratory, the fossil wall of Crinoid and Ichthyosaur and the Nanoparticle Probe Platform; Dr. Tian Li explained the scientific significance of the Biological Simulation Platform; Professor Zhu Zhenli and Professor Yang Jianghai respectively made a brief introduction on the large-scale equipment platforms in their charge.

  At the exchange meeting, vice president Wang Hua, on behalf of CUG (China University of Geosciences), extended a warm welcome to Xie Wei and his delegation for their visit to CUG, and introduced the basic situation of CUG, the progress and achievements CUG has made in the construction of "Double First-Class", the "Yangtze River Plan for Geosciences", the construction of high-level talent teams, the construction of Sci-Tech Platform, and the transformation and application of sci-tech achievements. Subsequently, Professor Sun Jun, deputy director of the laboratory, showed the progress in preparations for the establishment of Guangdong Institute for Advanced Study, CUG. The school office, the Academy of Sci-Tech Development, the social cooperation office, the College of Geosciences, the College of Marine Science and Technology, the School of Environmental Studies, the Gemmological Institute and other institutions made their reports in order. 

  Xie Wei listened carefully to the reports from each part of CUG and fully affirmed the achievements and contributions made by CUG. He hoped that both sides could continue to strengthen cooperation and promote the advancement of the strategic agreement. He also added that CUG shall further strengthen its support and guidance for the talent training in Nansha Development Zone and provide more talents for the progress of Nansha Development Zone and Guangdong Province.
