On March 21, 2012, the unveiling ceremony of State Key Laboratory of Biogeology and Environmental Geology, CUG was held in front of the Main Building. 

Zhang Xianen, director of the Basic Research Department of the Ministry of Science& Technology, Zhou Wenneng, director of the Base Construction Department, Hao Xiang, Wang Yanxin and Hao Fang, leaders of CUG, Yin Hongfu and Jin Zhenmin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zheng Chunbai, deputy director of the Department of Science&Technology of Hubei Province, and others attended the unveiling ceremony. Hao Xiang, Communist Party Secretary of CUG, presided over the unveiling ceremony. Director Zhang xianen and President Wang Yanxin jointly inaugurated the State Key Laboratory.
